The Extreme Stress Assessment instrument is a norm-based stress risk assessment and management tool developed for the South African industry following 12 years of cutting edge research conducted by the WorkWell Research Unit, Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, North-West University, Potchefstroom in a multi-disciplinary research approach.

 

The Instrument
  • The Assessment is standardised for South African conditions (Validity and Reliability studies)

  • The Assessment is Cultural Sensitive ( no biased against any cultural group in South Africa)

  • Compares all dimensions to the South African Norm

  • The Assessment is predictive by means of structural equation modelling

  • The Assessment is supported by a real-time reporting system ( real-time analysis and management / group reporting)

  • The Assessment is only available in English, requires an ABET 4 literacy levels, and takes between 10-15 minutes to complete.  

 

The Dimensions of the Extreme Stress Assessment
 

The ESA assess the following dimensions

  • Extensive and in-depth measurement of the incidence of stress related ill health symptoms (psychological and physical), which could be work or personal related.

  • Burnout Risk

  • Personal Recourses, the ability to cope with adverse and stressful situations

  • Depression Incidence

  • Productivity and Absence self-report

  • Perceived reasons for stress, rating in terms of:

  • Personal Relationship difficulties

  • Children and family stressors

  • Work-related stressors and job stress

  • Personal financial stressors

  • Health-related stressors e.g. chronic illness

  • Social Stressors e.g. friends, social isolation

  • Environmental stressors e.g. crime, pollution, travelling.
